As my position speaks for myself, I am here to guide you guys through the year and provide a humbling experience that might bring out something in you. You are as valuable to me as I am to the club. Keep in mind that we are all UNIFAM. With that being said, let's talk about a couple things.
First off, going off last year, I wanted to continue collaborating with schools. What that means is neighboring elementary schools would create some sort of program or event that allows students to donate money to UNICEF, just like the Trick-Or-Treat program we are currently endorsing. Last year, West Creek Academy called their program "Penny Wars." and raised $1460!!! The Valencia Club itself raised around 880 Through the Trick or Treat Boxes.
However, the past month has been quite difficult to get a hold of the principal of the school(s) because they are busy with meetings, etc.
Regarding our own school, I plan to stick Trick-Or-Treat boxes in almost every classroom so we can try to make some more money. I HOPE you guys are filling up a lot of boxes because most of you haven't been asking for more.
Secondly, each Month I am planning to make the club revolve around a certain "theme." Of course this month is October, so Trick or Treating is big. Next month will be a different theme, so I will keep you posted on that.
The point of the "10 hours by the end of the semester" is to expose you guys to an environment where you give, but do not take or receive. This is important not only for providing for others, but also providing for yourself. Now you may be wondering, what do I get from this? What you get, is a sense of joy and purpose, a greater connection to the community, and solving problems we care about.
As a human, it's important to be kind, compassionate, and loving towards others. That's just what we were born to do. To help one another in expectance of something greater later.
What I want to say last is what you guys are doing is truly one of a kind. It's humbling to see you guys give up a small portion of the week to spend time with me, and everyone else in the room to talk about how we can provide for others.
If you want to know a couple things about me, here are some "fun facts." For fun, I love skateboarding, discovering new music, and spending time with my friends.
I am also currently in a Model United Nations class at COC. If you are interested in International Relations or anything of that sort, you can come and talk to me about it. It's a challenging course, but it's what I love doing.
A BIG part of who I am as a person is shown through the usage of my instagram. I post inspirational/motivational/random stuff about life, and post pretty cool pictures, so if you want, you can check it out @krewellic.
Part of being a leader arises from learning from others and bonding with others. And that's what I plan doing with you guys. So if you ever have questions on things other than UNCIEF, PLEAASSEEEEE come talk to me. It will make me really happy.
With all that said, I hope to have a great year with you guys. Thank you for everything.
